Cute, but what i dont understand is why the father doesnt bring the kid into the parents bed? With that alternative, crimping in the crib seems just.....silly. Any parents want to enlighten me, out there? Seems to me instinct is working on this kid. The only power we have over instinct is language. As a teacher, i always approached my job with the attitude: A kid who isnt old enough to explain things to needs to be coddled, and taught by example, and if that doesnt work...be patient, get creative, but coddle them til you suss out the problem. Crying for tens-of-minutes-on-end i always took as a failure in my job. Everyone wants to sleep, yah? So why not move the kid into the big bed, everyone sleep, and just wait until you can explain things, in increments: Hey, kiddo - you need to learn something. Heres how you do it. And if i roll over on you and make you wake up and cranky, then you need your own damn bed, child! Shona, yre the best mother i ever knew. Got any insights?
