Cyndi shared this with WBOS, and I have a perspective... Cyndi, and all... Either we are better than Honduras and El Salvador, or we are part of the problem. Civil wars, drug gangs, economic instability -- these are in our future if we are not careful. Victims wont bring it, we will have it here to greet them with if we do not wake up to bad immigration policies. We will have yet another gun to their heads. Part of the problem is that we do not realize how precious freedom is because ours has been desensitized from us by the 1%. America suffers from economic inequity itself, due to outright efforts of 1%, lobbies, GOP influence, and hidden influence of crypro-covservatives, neoliberalism, ancaps, and vulgar libertarians... (anyone of the economic liberalistic camp, regardless of how they got there). We have little economic freedom in America. Hell, theres little economic opportunity in America. People are desperate for it even here, since we are in the midst of economic deprivation ourselves. We at least should be on the side of these refugees from violence.
