D&C: ABOUT FACE D&C or Drill and Ceremony. There are three facing movements. One of them is the About Face. In the Army, we have prepatory commands and commands of execution. For The About-Face the Prepatory command is ABOUT and the Command of execution is FACE. You do not execute the facing movement until you hear the command of execution. dont ANTICIPATE the command of execution by leaning to the left or start to move your right foot. To execute the About Face movement: 1- You will always start from the position of Attention. 2- After the command of Face you will bring your right foot around to the back placing your toes approximately 5in or so depending on your height behind your left heal. Be sure not to place your right toe directly behind your left heel for this will not allow your heels to meet when finishing the movement. 3- Simultaneously spin on your left heel and youre right toe bringing your heels together at a 90° angle, turning a complete 180°. That completes the About Face. You will stumble in the beginning. Practice makes perfect. The only way you get better and proficient at it is to simply do it. Do it over and over until you get it done and its second nature. Best of luck, Hooah! -SFC Swartz
