DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS 1/14/2015 The Junior Varsity girls basketball team traveled to Freeport last night to take on the Lady Exporters and needless to say it was a tough outing for the young Lady Necks as they lost 65-24. Ja’Lynn Bonner scored twelve points. Shareeka Davidson scored eight points, Katy Dent scored two points and Ty’Asia Blunston scored 1 point. The Lady Necks will see action again Friday when they play the Stafford Lady Spartans at home starting at 5:00. Good Job JV! There will be a baseball parent meeting on Wednesday January 21st at 6:30 pm in the CHS Cafeteria. Topics to be discussed will be the upcoming season, rules, schedules, scholarship information and other items pertaining to the upcoming season. For all interested athletes, track practice will start Monday, January 26 at 3:15. We will meet on the visitor’s side of the track. You must have a current physical and all paper work completed before you can practice. If you need a physical form or an athletic packet please see Coach Carr or Coach Gerbich. Attention Roughnecks! Valentine’s Day is in just a few short weeks! The junior class will be selling Valentine’s Day roses at lunch for YOUR convenience! Roses are the traditional Valentine’s Day gift and we are making it easy for you! All you have to do is come pay for your order and we will attach your personal, handwritten message to a rose wrapped with pretty paper and a ribbon and deliver it to your recipient for just $5. Come by and buy a valentine for your sweetheart, best friend, or secret crush (yes we will do anonymous roses). Look for us in the cafeteria this week!! Don’t forget your money!! DO you sing, dance, act or play in a band?? If you have said Yes, to any of these talents. Then stop by Mrs. Calderon’s room e-8 after school starting today Jan. 14th to pick up Paperwork for the Talent Show . To be elegible to preform you must have all paperwork turned in by 1/21/15. CHS are you ready for a huge surprise please come out and support your fellow classmates at the talent show. The talent show will be on Fri Jan 30 in the Auditorium at 7:00 p.m. Presale tickets will be $3.00 and all tickets purchased at the door will be $5.00. So get your tickets ASAP. Seniors: DO NOT forget about senior ads. Every year there are seniors that get turned away because they miss the deadline or because there is no space available. Make sure you purchase your ad space now. You have until March to turn in the pictures, but page space is first come, first serve! See Mrs. Kincannon in C106 if you have questions. The local scholarship bulletin has now been updated and is available on line. You can view it at cbisd/chs SENIORS!!! Get your 3 pictures to Ms. Davis for the senior serve slide show ASAP! Ms. Davis will NOT accept any past January 31st and that date will be soon! Only 20 or so seniors have turned in pictures so far. Please email, thumb drive, disk, or even facebook your pictures to Ms. Davis. Stop by her room if you need help with that part. You should turn in a younger toddler/elementary picture and a current picture which does not have to be official ‘senior’ shots-- This is just a “then vs now.” Any student wanting to take an online Virtual School class, come by the guidance office to sign up by Friday, Jan. 16th. No one will be enrolled after this date. Dual Credit English students need to come by Mrs. Durham’s office and sign off on their names for graduation at their earliest convenience. We want to know….what do you dream about? Whether it’s some bizarre dream you had last week, or your hopes for the future, share your dreams with us, and you could win $1500 in the “I have a dream” scholarship essay contest. The deadline for entry is January 31, so be sure to come by the guidance office and pick up a flyer to find out how you can enter. Good Luck! If you are a senior planning to attend UTSA we have a scholarship for you!! The UTSA Alumni scholarship is $5,000 per year and renewable. The deadline is February 15th. Please come by the guidance office for more information on how to apply. The Texas Caucus of Black School Board Members is offering a $1,000 scholarship! All you have to do is fill out an online application and write an essay. Please come by the guidance office for more information if you are interested.
