DAILY WALKING WITH GOD #224 BE PERSISTENT ABOUT YOUR GOALS In 1982, I was discussing a vital issue with a British lady in Bolton. When she realised my passion and that I was not ready to take NO for an answer, she remarked that I was too PERSISTENT! She never knew that her observation was a virtue to me rather than a derogatory statement. Persistence is the quality that allows someone to continue doing something or trying to do something even though it is difficult or opposed by other people. In Matthew 15:21-28, the woman from the region of Tyre and Sidon came to Jesus desperately seeking deliverance for her daughter. However, despite her pleas for mercy and the intense worship she gave to Jesus, in addition to all other entreaties, she met stiff resistance from the Lord. Unfortunately too, the demons of opposition even spoke through the disciples when they urged Jesus to send her away, because, according to them, the woman had constituted a nuisance to them! I thank God that the woman was undaunted but she persevered. In her persistence, the woman endured a great insult of being classified as a little dog! Since Jesus was classifying the miracle she wanted as bread to the little dogs, the desperate and persistent woman had to remind Jesus that the crumbs from the masters table are undoubtedly the entitlements of the little dogs. Isaiah 43:26 says Put me in remembrance: let us plead together: declare thou, that thou mayest be justified. As the woman got the desired miracle for her daughter, Jesus also commended her faith as a great. If an unbeliever could obtain her desire because she persisted, it goes to confirm that nothing good comes easy. Therefore, you must imbibe the attitude of persistence in pursuing your goals. I pray for you that as you persistent in asking, you will receive; as you insistently seek, you will find your joy and as you persevere in knocking, the doors of your heart desires shall be opened for you in Jesus name. FOR MEDITATION: Luke 18:1-8 (NKJV) Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, 2saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor [K]regard man. 3Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, [L]‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’ 4And he would not for a while; but afterward he said within himself, ‘Though I do not fear God nor regard man,5yet because this widow troubles me I will [M]avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.’”6Then the Lord said, “Hear what the unjust judge said. 7And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them?8I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” SALOM, PEACE, CCI.
