DANIEL FAST FOR MARRIAGE AND FAMILY #DAY17 (15/10/14) He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord (Proverbs 18:22). There is no arguing with the word of God. A wife is a good thing. A thing of value! “A capable, intelligent, and virtuous woman—who is he who can find her? She is far more precious than jewels and her value is far above rubies or pearls.” (Proverbs 31:10). If you are unmarried and wondering where you can find this Proverbs 31 woman, have no fear. Everything is laid bare before the Lord. He knows where she can be found. Yours is to seek him. Man is called and given one grand job where his wife is concerned; to love her deeply, with the same love with which Christ loves the Church (Eph 5:25). A sacrificial love that says, “I am the head, but I choose to meet your needs above my own.” It’s a selfless love. It’s amazing what love does to a woman! She blossoms under it, glows, becomes more confident, more submissive, more given to honor and respect her man. If you only knew how much she needs your unconditional love, you would give it more often and you would reap the benefits of the same. I have heard it said that we should go into a marriage to give. Gentlemen, give your women love unreservedly. This calling to which you have been called is a high and holy one. A calling to love unconditionally and to stay unwavering in the covenant of love. But you cannot do this in your own strength. You need to ask God to teach you how to love your wife and to help you demonstrate your love. And above all else, pray for her. Intercede for your wife before the Lord in good times and in bad. Genesis 25:21 says this, “Isaac prayed to the LORD on behalf of his wife, because she was childless. The LORD answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.” I am sure that Rebekah had prayed for herself countless times – a barren woman finds no rest (Prov 30:15-16) - and yet it took Isaac praying for her to get an answer to that prayer. Are you praying for your wife? LET US PRAY OUT LOUD Father I pray that my wife will be a woman of noble character (Proverbs 31:10). That she will be strong, capable and excellent as a wife and in all that she does. Give her that unbending inner strength that is so valuable to a man. I pray that she will be of unshakable moral reputation and have impeccable personal integrity. I pray that my wife will be worthy of respect. That she will not be a malicious talker but instead will be temperate and trustworthy in everything (1 Timothy 3:11). May she find her delight in God (Psalm 37:4). I pray that she will not be swayed by the expectations of others but will keep her gaze on God alone. May she seek first the kingdom of God and your righteousness Lord (Matt 6:33). More than outer beauty, I pray that my wife will seek inner beauty first, for charm is deceptive and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised (Proverbs 31:30). May she seek and cultivate the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit in the name of Jesus (1 Peter 3:3-4). Cause her to know that I love and appreciate her as she is and that she is indeed both fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). I pray that she will know and understand her life’s purpose. May she find her vision and her mission in life for such a time as this (Esther 4:14). May she embrace and enjoy the call of God over her life in Jesus name. I pray also that as her husband, I will be supportive and encouraging of her vision without any insecurity or jealousy or selfishness in Jesus name. May I be able to fully bless and release her into the work for which you have called her. Father, make my wife holy. Walking in holiness she will hate sin and become a slave of righteousness to which we have all been called. Cleanse her with the washing of water by your word and present her to yourself a radiant bride, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish (Eph 5:26-27). I pray that you will give my wife wisdom, for it is the wise woman who builds her home (Proverbs 14:1). I pray that she will be a hard working woman, one who like the merchant ships, brings her foods from afar (Prov 31:14). May she be girded with strength. Make her arm strong and firm in Jesus names (Prov 31:17) and bless the work of her hands. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!
