DARC made the trip south to take on Fort Hood RFC this past - TopicsExpress

DARC made the trip south to take on Fort Hood RFC this past weekend. In an extremely physical game with gale force winds swirling around inside the stadium DARC came out on top 17-0. It could have been very different though if passes went to hand with a number of spurned chances. DARC dominated possession from the start and one lapse of concentration should have punished them but a combination of running out the back of the try zone coupled with a knock on meant the opening score did not go Fort Hoods way. DARC continued to put phase after phase together only to be faced by unrelenting defense. In the end it was strong counter rucking by DARCs Ryan Green on the Fort Hood line that created the opportunity for Nick Lock to dot the ball down for the games first score. The ensuing conversion hit the post. The first half continued in the same fashion with DARC dominating the set piece and phase play but just coming up short in scoring opportunities. Fort Hood had their prop yellow carded for constant infringements midway through the first half and the half ended with a DARC player being red carded for reacting to several punches from a Fort Hood player who was also carded. The referee acted swiftly and the game continued on in a positive manner. The second half brought more of the same with DARC dominating possession and territory but unable to find a way past resolute defense. Fort Hood were penalized for infringements at the ruck and DARC took advantage of this by kicking penalties through the boot of Russell Sanders and Vince Dutton who both got 2 each. DARC would like to thank Fort Hood RFC for hosting us and giving us a fiercely competitive game that saw several blood substitutions. We look forward to taking on Fort Sill RFC this coming Saturday at home at Lake Highlands Park in Dallas.
