DAY 21: Pray4Qatar & Prayer4Turkmenistan QATAR, ARABIAN PENINSULA The political leadership of Qatar is in transition. Shaikh Hamad Bin Khalifa Al Thani has voluntarily stepped down as emir. Now, Qatar is led by Emir Shaikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani. Pray that this leadership change will give the Qatari people more freedom to hear the Good News of the Lord Jesus Christ. Pray that the Church in Yemen has greater freedom. Pray a blessing over this new emir, Shaikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, may he walk with the Lord Jesus Christ (The Bible, 1 Timothy 2:1-3). TURKMENISTAN, CENTRAL ASIA Recently, authorities installed equipment in prisons throughout the country that jams cell phone signals. It is designed to end prisoners’ “only means of communication.” Critics believe it will also prevent prisoners from sharing prison conditions with the outside world. The United Nations said it is concerned over “numerous and consistent allegations about the widespread practice of torture and ill-treatment of detainees.” Pray for the fair treatment of Turkmenistan’s incarcerated. Pray for the government to work hard at improving prison conditions. Pray for Christian Believers to share the Gospel with detainees in Turkmenistan (The Bible, Hebrews 13:3).
