DAY 310 – HIS ANOINTING ATTRACTS TRIALS ---------------------------------- If we are believers in Christ, we are sent into the world like sheep in the midst of wolves – defenceless and in danger, but there is no power in the whole world that can destroy the chosen disciples of Christ. Weak as they are, they are able to destroy the strength of their enemies. There are more sheep in the world now than wolves. They appear to be weak, but there is a force in them which cannot be put down. There will come a time when they will overcome the ungodly, those who flatly and defiantly refuse the grace of God in Christ Jesus. The day will come when mighty truth shall prevail. For now, though we are persecuted in various ways, we are not forsaken. Though we are cast down, but we are not destroyed. Most believers are placed in positions where they are subject to very great temptations and persecutions. Others are mocked, laughed at, ridiculed and called by evil names. Will you, because of these treatments, deny your faith? Are you going to put aside your faith in Jesus Christ? If you are, then you are not made of the same stuff that true disciples of Jesus Christ are made of. When the grace of God is upon his children, they can bear all the blows which the world may put on them. Though we are called to serve the LORD under great difficulties, there is no need to fear. Be strong in the power of the Holy Spirit. In the midst of all the dangers in this world, the love of God is always within us like a fire that cannot be quenched. Joseph is one of the noblest characters in the Bible. His personality is extraordinary. He was a person of lovely character, full of gentleness, kindness and truth. Surely, these were gifts from the LORD himself. Joseph was graced with these. From his youth, Joseph’s greatness in Israel was foretold by his peculiar dreams. Those dreams comforted him during his darkest moments and while he endured much afflictions, and even from his brothers. They were like the star of prophecy in his life. We may be certain that when God gives you extraordinary gifts and appoints you for extraordinary career – with that also comes unusual trials. The road to true honour is not easy. Yes, the LORD’s gifts attract trials. These trials and persecutions are not meant to destroy you. They are not meant to weaken you. They are meant to prune your character, strengthen you and to remove any pride that might exist. In fact, after you have been tried and tested – you will then be confirmed whether you are of the LORD or not. Afflictions are a way of life. They come both to the good person and to the bad. To the evil person, afflictions bring out the evil in him. He rebels against the LORD and his heart remains hardened – just like Pharaoh. But to the believer, it is good to be afflicted. When sanctified by the Spirit, trials are a means of instruction and they are most valuable. The rod of the LORD teaches us more than all the sermons we will ever have. Yes, it is good for you that you have been afflicted. Though you pass through the fire, you will not be burnt and through the waters, they shall not drown you.
