DCC press release - Changes to parking restrictions in Ruthin In July 2012 Denbighshire County Council introduced new traffic and parking restrictions at various locations in and around Ruthin Town Centre. During the weeks immediately following the introduction of the new restrictions and as a result of concerns raised regarding the visual impact of the road markings associated with the parking restriction in particular, some of the markings were amended and/or removed without recourse to the normal statutory consultation procedures, an exercise which unfortunately rendered the affected restrictions unenforceable. The consultation procedures necessary to resolve this issue have now been satisfactorily completed retrospectively and a traffic regulation order which gives full effect to the restrictions as previously introduced (and subsequently amended) as well as introducing some additional localised restrictions came into force on 7th July 2014. It is anticipated that the signing and road markings required to give effect to the new traffic regulation order will be installed over the next few weeks whereupon full and active enforcement of all on-street parking restrictions in Ruthin will be re-established. A particular point to note with regard to the installation of the road markings is that some short lengths of the yellow kerb markings which were originally installed in 2012 but subsequently removed will be re-installed at specific strategic locations where on-street parking for any purpose will not be permitted.
