DESHAMANTE MATTI KADU, MANUSHULU KADU Mattini artham chesukunna manushulu NAGARAMANTE NAGARIKATA MATRAME KADU Prapanchaniki bharosa ivvagalige sadhikaratha ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SMART MEANS NOT JUST IT: The writer is much feared of IT and reflected his opinions across the article with a pre-set notion presuming that all are following the same; i.e. smart-means-IT. Seems the author has missed out several key points... to name a few: 1.Infrastructure Development: Study/encouragement of local practices (Balanced city cant be built without shielding the soil and its products.) 2.Economics: Usage of regional material and support to crops and crafts (Vanishing small houses in Kerala, emerging Industry in landslide area such as Himachal in the name of economic development.) 3.Knowledgeable Resources: Ability to build the knowledge of surroundings and practices of various vocational groups (Knowledgeable resources who can develop so much of mismatch of cultures, able to understand anything but the roots and who follow borrowed studies are not useful, at least for now. One should ask ones family member or neighbour to speak about the homeland before returning back with a graduation from abroad.) 4. Finance and Investments: Vested interests of political groups in guise of religious trusts, foreign currency flow are killing the rich treasures of medicine, education, sciences, arts and work hours. (Filthy rich and defeated political parties are trying to fund the hospitals, schools and spiritual centers by tracing austerity and by buying so-called forward communities.) 5. Right to Live: No mention of law and order and imposed rule in the name of the fact law - which could be way far from peoples benefit and truth: sudden hikes, unexpected shifts of offices, clearances to non-local businesses without any condition or with a single blind condition... and mindless moves such as mergers and divisions. (Why cant be the fresh air, water availability, price variations, imposition of education systems, proportions of usage, etc. be questioned without fear and exercise the right to live under human rights segment.) 6. Criminal Wastage of Time and Money: Without knowing or understanding the vibrancy of India, climate at different places, work-scope people run with mad rush for opportunities and money. Finally end up with horrible waste of time. (In a country which is running short of natural resources and growing population in millions every drop of fuel for unnecessary travel and money spent on every brick of buildings that absorb heat and seep water is going to remind us a saying - poor plan, huge loss. People who live on pesticides, cosmetics and all other types of consumerism are going to loot the country without any concern for future generations. Money saved is money earned and a city is not meant for one single generation.) ------------------------------------------------------------------------- From a few highlights that make sense: “A city can be defined as ‘smart’ when investments in human and social capital and traditional (transport) and modern communication infrastructure fuel sustainable economic development and a high quality of life, with a wise management of natural resources, through participatory action and engagement.”
