DETROIT AT ITS FINEST - My late Dad thought I was nuts for plunking down $800 in Phoenix in 82 for a baby blue 62 Ford T-Bird with a white top I saw along Thomas Road. A T-Bird restoration shop in North Phoenix soon knew my name and telephone number. Mine never looked as good as this one here. The interior was all complete, but the headliner was held in place with duct tape. It needed front ball joints to drive a straight line, an engine overhaul to deal with an incontinent oil pump, a cheap set of new shocks - and a lot of TLC to hit the road. It did have the requisite cool factor - tilt away Jet Age steering wheel, plenty of Batmobile gadgets , and a massive 390 V8 engine that sucked gallons of gas every single block it proudly drove. https://youtube/watch?v=bvyt6k-bJqI Damn, I miss that car.
