DEVELOPING II: Kurdistan Defense Forces (Peshmerga / PKK / YPG) yesterday on December 19 opened two humanitarian corridor to Mt. Shingal, breaking an ISIS siege on this mountainous region. After the last week’s successful operation, Peshmerga forces of South Kurdistan, backed by the Coalition air force, advanced from the eastern side of the mountain from Rabia and Zumar cities, while the HPG (PKK) forces and local Ezidi fighters pushed the ISIS from the north of the mountain, and the YPG forces (of Rojava) advanced from Rojava soil, re-opening the second corridor. For now, two large rural districts of Shingal known as Sinon and Khane-Sor (including over 10 villages) are liberated by the Kurdistan Defense Forces, and more advances are expected as this campaign is described ‘liberation of Shingal.’
