DIALOGUE: ON DOUBLE PREDESTINATION: Charles Otuoma My dear brethren, may I attempt to make a contribution towards this lofty subject of God’s ancient choice of his people versus his assumed choice to retribution of the non elect. I have taken my time to peruse through the excellent and valuable arguments advanced in this Scripturally Speaking Biblical Dispensational Theology FB Group thread by the beloved brethren, both for and against the logic of double predestination. In my considered opinion , the idea of election of some from all the condemned humankind can not admit a presupposition of a concurrent choice for retribution from the non elect. In ordinary language and sense, a divine choice for redemption must be made from among those that have been condemned already. All mankind after the fall were rejected by God as rebellious . But, through his secret counsel which he has with held from us, he purposed to redeem some from among the lost race without giving us any reason for his choice. In the nature of things, choice can only be made from group of characters that are already in existence or foreseen by an omniscience God. Since God made choice from such characters in the eternity past, it can not be said that he also in the same manner made a choice of the non elect, for such assumption would be nonsensical. Choice can not be made from non elect for condemnation, since they are already condemned to damnation by virtue of representation in the fall of Adam. Therefore, the arguments for double predestination can not stand the test of rigorous scrutiny with sound hermeneutical and exegetical approach. I am enjoying the discussion as God gives me grace to comprehend to some level the edifying scholarly exchange between the beloved of my Father. Kurt Ressler: Charles, I agree with your logic. In what I wrote earlier is that God choose to first condemn all based on sin. Then he chose to show mercy to some based on His choice. Someone will point out that it still was the choice of God. I agree, but it is how it is done in Gods decree. All condemned because of sin first, not just some; while some then to salvation second based in mercy. Not some to condemnation and some to salvation and those who were chosen to salvation never were under condemnation, Charles Otuoma: But, brother Kurt Ressler, choosing to condemn is not the same thing as choosing individual.
