DIG THIS by Rachel Lenz and Jessie Vicic-- The Winthrop volleyball team concluded preseason play by traveling to Wake Forest for three matches. We opened up against Wake Forest in loud and obnoxious environment. When we finished the game in the fourth set we were playing very well as a team. Everyone was contributing and making the game a lot of fun! We were very happy to have our best set to finish the game. On Saturday morning we faced Elon. Going into the game we knew we couldn’t underestimate them. We were able to keep our momentum throughout the whole three set match. Finally we faced Western Carolina University to finish out the weekend. We stayed strong from the beginning to the end. The whole team was very excited to finish the tournament strong with a three set sweep. Overall we could not be happier with the teamwork and support that we received throughout the whole weekend. Next weekend we look forward to starting conference play against our rivals Coastal Carolina!
