Arnold Ahlert writes about the big scam of people signing up for disability which then after two years allows them to have Medicare as well. As always with these entitlement programs, the need to work is lessened and indeed that is what happens, people rely on the program rather than themselves. When government programs take people out of the labor force, they no longer put their shoulder to the wheel to produce things and the economy suffers as do taxpayers who pay for their free ride. In the old days when welfare was a local or charity issue, local people knew who was truly disabled.
