DISCUSSION: I received an email from a customer this morning with concerns over my CD packaging (I use Eco-Wallets instead of Jewel Cases). I explained my reasons for using Eco-Wallets and have copied it below for you to read. Im curious what YOUR opinions are about CD packaging? Thank you for your feedback. I chose to use Eco-Wallets for many reasons, the biggest being jewel cases constantly break. They break when theyre shipped to me from the manufacturer, and they break when I ship them to customers. I used to receive emails all the time from customers who complained the case was cracked, or the little teeth that hold the CD inside were broken. I was having to replace CDs for people which was a problem. I am not a fan of using plastic as well. Eco-Wallets are environmentally friendly and I feel good offering a green product in place of plastic. Eco-Wallets are printed on Grade A recycled cardboard with vegetable based inks and a lot of industry professionals are starting to use them. You can read about it here discmakers/community/about/sustainability.asp Jewel cases take up a lot of space. I tour regularly and I can travel with a much larger stock of CDs to sell at shows. When I travel with jewel cases, they are bigger, bulkier, break, and weigh a lot more. For example, I just performed in three shows in CA this last weekend. I traveled with 120 CDs and 15 Songbooks that all fit inside my small carry-on travel case. Before I converted to Eco-Wallets, I could only fit 75 CDs and 0 Songbooks in that same case. Eco-wallets are also better for shipping. I can ship up to 5 Eco-Wallets in a single bubble mailer, which saves me on shipping costs and packaging. I understand that I cant please everyone, and I know that there are people who enjoy certain products over others. These were my personal reasons for choosing the Eco-Wallet. I hope you understand. Lets discuss!! :)
