Di papayag ang mga gustong makinig at makilahok na guluhin ang okasyong iyan, a FB pal replied to a UP student groups arrogant statement: Had we been intent on hurting him (Sec.Abad), we would have barged into the auditorium while he was [talking to] students, mauling everyone who got in the way. I had first-hand experience, with UP thugs when my son graduated from the UP College of Medicine. The event was held at the PICC; it was a formal occasion. Until those hooligans barged in, shouting slogans incoherently. Biglang naging parang palengke ang paligid: they went onstage, and continued their rants, demands, whatever - while holding placards and sari-saring burluloys na pinagbabandera nila. The UP management who organised the graduation rites and their guests onstage gave those goons the floor for around 5 minutes. People like me, parents who were there to commune with our childrens years of hard work, savour the fruits of our labor as a family, and other guests, were equally appalled, disgusted that this abomination can happen during a crucial rite of our countrys premiere university. What stupefied me the most: The UP managements benign reaction to the pandemonium around them. Later, I was told that the despicable disruption perpetuated by the Iskolars ng Bayan - has become a UP tradition. Why? (P.S. Subukan kaya nilang bastusin ang graduation ng La Salle-MNL.)
