DOCKERS HOOKS - THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY Whether swung with murderous intent or held cautiously with fear on your face the Dockers hook has always been popular at exhibits . A selection of hooks , along with coal shovels and other memorabilia will be on display tonight at the Dublin Dockers heritage event in The Ferryman , Sir John Rogersons Quay , starting at 8.30pm. All welcome to this free event , which will include an evening of music featuring Paul OBrien . Photos show Mary Downes and Marie OReilly displaying a very different attitude to the hooks . These hooks had belonged to Docker Jem Moran , and his son can be seen showing one off , while Jems brothers Tommy and John argue the point . Declan Byrne (of the Dublin Dockworkers Preservation Society) demonstrates how the hooks were used. The forgotten history of the Dublin Docks .
