DOES GOD STILL DO EXCEPTIONAL MIRACLES IN OUR DAY? I know a very humble man who is a member of our fellowship. His name remains unmentioned as he is not a sensationalist. He and his family (wife and two children, a boy and a girl) lived in the Far East for many years where they were involved in missions, before the Lord Jesus Christ called them back to S.Africa a few years ago.. They were on the beach when the tsunami hit the Thai Island of Phuket that fateful day on Dec 26, 2004.. Nobody knows, but around 700+ people died that day on Phuket Island alone.. There was no warning.. When the tsunami suddenly rose out of the water, 20 meters high, and rushed in and crashed onto the shore.. it was like death on your doorstep.. you could only turn your back.. Many people died because they were smashed into the trees on the verge of the beach. Others just drowned or were smashed by heavy debris.. Others were pulled out to sea by the backwash which smashed against a rock edge and went back out to sea.. My friend and his family did not know where the others were - they were separated. When his wife surfaced, she could not see anybody.. She saw something moving under the water, stuck her hand in and grabbed... It was her 2 year old little daughter. My friend had grabbed a tree and could not hold on and was washed inward, but he survived without a scratch.. Their little boy of four, was left high and dry a few hundred meters inland.. unharmed. When they got together, they just knew that it was not humanly possible for them as a whole family to be alive, as virtually all other people who were on the same beach partaking in festivities, were GONE and/or dead... God sovereignly can do, and still does, the impossible, if He so wills.. He is truly worthy of praise..
