DQ People: I was told that Sam & our family needs to clarify the impact NubAbility has on our community: This post might help. PLUS: 1. We 77-100 have campers along with their families(do the math) coming to spend July 17-20 in our local hotels and B&Bs. They are traveling from WASHINGTON: the state! to Maine to DQ!! 2. We are working with the high school athletics and fishing teams & programs and exposing them to the kind of motivation and inspiration that is unique to our program. 3. We are hosting an annual 5K Run/Walk that is being advertised in a 4 state region that will highlight our beautiful Du Quoin State Fairgrounds. 4. We are bringing in 37 accomplished limb-different athletes as coaches who will be joined not only by local coaches but also 18 more traveling from out of the area to DQ to assist. They are coming from San Francisco to NYC! 5. We are providing service opportunities for select high school students and community volunteers in order that they experience what its like to invest in a kid finding their courage through sport. 6. We donated 2 DQ Foundation Scholarships that were award to Camden Camdon Mercier, who served as an assistant coach last summer and developed a mentorship/friendship with a camper from KY who he continues to mentor. and Bailie Caldwell Who served as a volunteer and an assistant coach at the drop of a hat and treated our campers with the same encouragement and motivation that she treats anyone with. 7. The numbers of those involved in NubAbility over the period of 4 days could reach well over 1000! While many see this in dollar and cents and that is awesome, we see a community forever changed for opening its arms and welcoming those from across the nation that will then go back to where they came from not only know how to pronounce DuQuoin, but also touting our hospitality.
