DSGMC submits memorandum to UK PM seeking unconditional apology, judicial probe into involvement of UK govt in Operation Bluestar The president of Delhi Sikh Gurudwara Management Committee (DSGMC) Mr. Manjit Singh G.K. who is currently on a visit to United Kingdom, through a memorandum submitted to the Prime Minister of United Kingdom Mr. David Cameron has demanded an unconditional apology motion is passed by the parliament of United Kingdom for colluding with Indian government to provide assistance on conducting the raid on the Golden Temple in Amritsar during Operation Bluestar on June 1984. Mr. G.K. who is leading a delegation of prominent Sikhs has also demanded a judicial probe by a joint commission consisting of serving judicial officers of both countries alongwith representatives of the Sikh Community as well. DSGMC general secretary Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa and Mr. Puneet Chandok leading internal affairs for the Gurudwara committee are part of the delegation. The memorandum was submitted through Mr. Giles Thomson (head of South Asia department) at foreign and commonwealth office, London. “It is regretted to note that the then Prime Minister of United Kingdom, Mrs. Margaret Thatcher led government colluded with India’s Prime minister of those days Mrs. Indira Gandhi on Operation Blue Star,” pointed the memorandum adding that the matter is of great concern and has upset the Sikh community. “The circumstances which compelled the British Government to be part of this genocide and violation of human rights needs to be answered by the United Kingdom,” memorandum demanded. It reminded that Sikhs have contributed substantially to the growth of United Kingdom and have played a major role during the World Wars I and II. They have also made United Kingdom proud on numerous occasions. This year the Sikhs across the globe will be commemorating their role in the centenary of World War I and would also mourn loved ones lost in Operation Bluestar. Raising the issue of 1984 anti-Sikh riots, the memorandum said that year 2014 is also 30th anniversary of the horrific November 1984 genocide, in which thousands of Sikhs were killed by the then Indian National Congress led Government. “During Operation Bluestar thousands of government troops invaded Punjab. From June 1 to 6 1984, they bombarded the holy shrine, Sri Harmandir Sahib (the Golden Temple) in Amritsar, causing huge disrespect to the sanctity of the holiest shrine and timing of the operation coincided with Martyrdom Day of our fifth guru, Sri Guru Arjan Dev ji,” memorandum elaborates about the Operation Bluestar adding that thousands of innocent Sikh men, women and children were killed, their bodies were cremated en-mass. The revelations of UK government’s involvement according to the memorandum confirm the depth of murderous collusion. It was Congress regimes war on the Sikhs in which participation of British agencies is highly shocking in crime against humanity.
