DUSL Volunteers at Street Soccer USA National Cup. Players from DUSL’s Premier teams came together to volunteer for the Street Soccer USA National Cup this past Friday to provide a potluck dinner to homeless soccer players from the various programs throughout the US. The National Cup is an annual event that brings in teams from the various Street Soccer programs throughout the US, as well as an open tournament fundraiser. This year’s Cup was held at the San Francisco Civic Center. Thanks to the meal contributions of the families in the club, DUSL fed over 250 soccer players and volunteers at the event, and even managed to get in the action with a little bit of street soccer play at the end of the evening. A special thanks to Jenny Heddy for taking the lead in organizing this event on behalf of DUSL. Street Soccer USA’s mission is to improve health, education, and employment outcomes for the most disadvantaged Americans by using sports to transfer the skills necessary so that they can achieve these outcomes for themselves. We also seek to raise awareness about the challenges of poverty in America so that as a country we can develop a more level playing field for all. Find out more about them at streetsoccerusa.org
