DUTY DELAYED Text: And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled, and answered, Go thy way for this time, when I have a more convenient season, I will call for thee.” (Acts 24:25) A duty is your moral or legal obligation; it can also be something you are required to do as part of your job. A duty may be easy or difficult, routine or occasional. All duties are however important as delay in doing them will cause problems. It might just be the school time keeper delaying to ring the school bell for break or change of lesson, or a medical doctor failing to respond promptly to an emergency call for a dying patient. Aim to do your duty. A duty you owe to yourself is your personal salvation, and to the world, is evangelism. Jesus mandates all believers to preach the gospel to every unsaved soul. Many believers delay it, waiting for a convenient time, or till when they must have read the Bible thoroughly and can preach fluently. However, souls are perishing daily in multitudes. Reach out to them in your home, school, street, and on the internet, before it is too late. “Only aim to do your duty and mankind will give you credit where you fail,” said Thomas Jefferson. God rewards diligent soul winners. Challenge: Duties delayed are the devil’s delight. Prayer: Help me Lord to do my duty promptly. Further Reading: Luke 17: 7-10
