Daily Devotion - 8-15-2014 - Pleased to Stay I want to encourage you in the importance of your Jerusalem, dispelling that somehow foreign missions is more important than Jerusalem. Leaving where we are with the comfort and the blessings to do with less is not nobler than being good stewards with what we have. That gets into a works mentality and a self-imposed righteousness that we cant allow to take place in our lives. Jesus said, He that has forsaken all mothers, and fathers, and houses, and lands for my names sake and this gospel shall receive again a hundredfold in this life, and in the life to come eternal life (Matt. 19:29). Many of us seem to make that a goal or an ambition. Although every one of us is to have that heart attitude and willingness, not every one of us will be asked to do that. To put yourself in that position and to impose that upon yourself is pride. To call yourself to a place other than where Jesus has placed you is pride. Go ye; but not you. The fact is some of us have to stay home to send the ones that God has called--not the ones that have a self-imposed obligation to deny themselves or have a form of asceticism or being an elitist. To move into that realm with a self-imposed agenda is the height of pride. It will bring sorrow and destruction; it will bring you into heresy, and ultimately you will be building your own kingdom and not His. He has placed us in the Body as it pleases Him (1 Cor. 12:18). Are you pleased with where God has placed you? Are you content with having a good job and living in a nice home in an affluent area, in middle class society here in America? Are you content with God having placed you here, or is there something in you thats discontent? Do you think you need to leave all of this and deny yourself when God hasnt called you to that? Its works; its pride; its fear; its questioning the sovereignty, the wisdom of God and the goodness of God. Dont sell all you have and give it to the poor until God tells you to. Dont feel that you are doing less than what you should be doing when you have a heart of absolute willingness to do whatever youre asked. Thats all God is looking for. Its important to see. In the economy of God, it is going to take many more of us to stay home, to work in Jerusalem and reach our Jerusalem, to be faithful, wise stewards so that we can have the wherewithal to send these on their way that God has called. We all reach our Jerusalem. Wherever God has placed us in His sovereign wisdom is going to be sufficient to reach the people necessary to continue to increase and to build in the kingdom of God. You go to work. Youre a witness; youre a light; youre the salt of the earth. Your life is a testimony; you dont know who youre reaching and where its going to go. Touch one life. We need to be aware of the importance of our role, placement and gifting in the Body of Christ as it pleases Him. Whatever realm it is, dont get yourself into that position to where you minimize who you are, where God has placed you, and the importance of this fruit thats being laid up to your account.
