Daily Devotion for July 19, 2013 No not distancing yourself from God, but making sure you are in proper position. Let me give you two examples as to why keeping a proper distance makes sense. 1) Driving When you’re in a small car behind a big truck what can you see? Pretty much the truck and things to your right left and behind you. So if you are keeping a steady pace and riding the trucks bumper and they brake unexpectedly, then what happens? Exxxxactly BAM POW OUCH. Now your car is totaled and whose fault is it? Yours. No matter who you blame with the statement they shouldn’t have slammed their brakes…it is still your fault. Distance is for our protection in case of unforeseen incidents. God is the first responder in our lives. He goes out in battle and takes all the major blows. Anything that he allows past him are things he knows we can handle. If we allow him to lead and give him space to do so we are putting ourselves in position to receive direction on how to receive the blow that is to come. And he will show us exactly where to go and how to handle it before time. Have you ever been led to a scripture and you had no idea why you kept reading it and later that day or even the next month you had to apply it to that situation? Yup preparing us for battle, no matter how great or small! Psalm 144:1 Blessed be the Lord my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle—When we are busy all up on God’s bumper trying to get in his thoughts and help him steer we miss those prep lessons. 2) Working with a micromanager I used to have this supervisor who would give me a task and hover over me as I completed it. It was obvious they didn’t have all the skills to complete the task in an effective and efficient manner because they told me lol. So kudos to them for delegating. But when someone is sitting on your neck while you work with all kinds of unnecessary comments of what they think should be done, it is frustrating and oh so annoying to me! So much that I’d rather not complete the task at all and often times I didn’t! My thoughts were dude give me 50 feet of space so I can do what you asked me to do on time! If not, do it yourself! Growth has come into my life in that area thank God! I wonder if God ever looks at us like, dude get out of my bubble. You asked me to do this for you but here you are all up on me micro managing and trying to make me do something totally different in a way that will be more inconvenient for you in the end. Back up and let me be God! In this instance I’m sure he is saying focus on moving on the task I have already given you but when it comes to me doing what I say I’d do just be still, and know that I am God… Psalm 46:10. Stall him out and give him space to do what he does best! =) All subscribers will be able to download this week’s posts in e-book format at the end of the week for free for a limited time only!
