Daily Devotional Excelling in Giving 2 Corinthians 8:7, 9 “See that you excel in this grace of giving…for you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.” We often think of grace as something we receive, unmerited favor. Yet, the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ enabled him to give, sacrificially. Grace is also the Spirit empowered capacity to obey God. We have all been given different measures of grace or Spirit appointed and empowered assignments from God. Our response determines the effectiveness of that work of grace in our lives. Paul calls his readers to excel in this grace of giving. Are we exceptional givers or just average? Jesus’ life and death have set the bar for excellent giving. By God’s grace we too can excel in giving sacrificially. Lord Jesus, I pray for your Spirit’s empowerment and grace to give generously and obey your promptings this day.
