Damn...! Im kinda speechless right now. I grew up watching Robin Williams entertain the masses with his television and film endeavors. Im sure he had legions of fans who adored his humor and performances. I for one understand that dealing with depression is a daily struggle; with many of you expressing yourselves and pouring out your emotions on these very pages; I too have teetered on that see saw. I commend you for the courage it takes to share that burden. I work in a field where one decision can lead to a lifetime of hurt and despair; and it pains me to see good people live in mental purgatory attempting to rebuild their lives. However, with perseverance it can be done. Lives on the other hand cant be replaced. And for so much attention to be focused on one individual while many of OUR own people die by the hands of someone who looks like them, a law enforcement officer sworn to uphold their duty to protect & serve or someone of another race is even more heart wrenching. Society has become so numb to it, that its but a blimp on the local & national news. And for that lack of coverage, the tragedy that befalls our brothers & sisters on a daily basis, the high incarceration rates, our images portrayed on television, etc and so on is all our fault. We have let both ourselves and those that stood before us down. And that to me is the saddest outcome of this entire situation. I dont claim to be anything more than what I am; one man/one voice, echoing over a chasm of nothingness. And for one individual to overtake the headlines after what has befallen people of color merely during the past month is disturbing (Eric Garner; Michael Brown; John Crawford). Before people snap, Im not condemning anyone for their opinions; youre entitled to that. These are merely my thoughts. The question I now ask myself is (real talk) are WE even worth fighting for if people dont see the significance within themselves? Yall dont even understand how deep this video is. Ill holla!
