Dan Henderson, President of Cascade PaddleSports, spoke at Canoecopia in Madison, WI over the weekend. His “Kayak Forward Stroke Development” presentation was based on his graduate-level study and research in exercise science and biomechanics. The rooms were packed with over 100 participants for each presentation. Covered in the presentation were biomechanical principals as applied to kayaking, a short history of how technique has evolved, and a model forward stroke. “It was great to be so well received and appreciated,” Dan exclaimed. “The event was very well run and there was lots of interest in discussions after the presentations and in his book, “Kea Kayaking, Basic Skills, Techniques, and Expedition Planning” from the Mountaineers Press.
