Dans 54th birthday is tomorrow! We have really never exchanged birthday gifts during our 28 years of marriage -- partly because we have rarely had much extra money between being in ministry and having a beautiful plus size family and partly because neither of us have gifts as a primary love language and have never wanted to buy a gift just for an occasion....unless we knew it was something just perfect that our beloved really wanted. Instead we celebrated the gift of each other, share our love & appreciation in a heartfelt card and spent any resources going out to dinner or having a party with family & friends. Well this year I had the opportunity to give Dan the gift of lifetime....something I knew he desperately wanted but knew would never happen. Yesterday after our early morning appointment I asked Dan to wait for a moment as I had an early birthday present for him. I handed him his gift and intrigued he went to open it. Inside was...among other things...his plane ticket that very night to Texas to see his college girls, and be there when they honored Amy as a senior and watch her play her very last collegiate soccer game! Dan has always been all of his kids coach and #1 fan when they play sports. It was killing him to not be there for Amy;s last game and the Lord provided a way for me to make it happen for him! He opened the gift he exclaimed No way! then started smiling from ear to ear....and then looked at me and said How did you do this? I just smiled and then he broke down in overwhelming tears of joy and appreciation (truly like I have rarely seen in our 28 years together) He arrived in Waxahachie this morning at 8:30am for part #2 of his gift...surprising Amy & Kristen (video coming soon) My heart is full to overflowing right now! I love this man more than anything in the world and to bless him in this way is so very wonderful & amazing! He is THE best...Happy Birthday Dan my love!
