David Baker here for Friday Breakfast Motorway service stations are known to charge over the odds for fast food, safe in the knowledge that they are the only option for hungry drivers. But it’s not just burgers for which you pay more on a long car journey, according to a survey. A single banana can cost as much as 75p at a service station – more than six times the supermarket price of around 12p. Also another bugbear is the ridiculous cash machine charges as well described as a rip off, some terminals charging £2.75. Can this be stopped?
