David Dyke, a 25-year-old Noble Park man, took his three-year-old son and eight year- old niece to Edithvale beach, Victoria to cool off on a hot January afternoon in 1976. His niece, reportedly the last person to see David, watched him go into the water but never sighted him again. However the sea was calm that day and there are no reports of any swimmers in distress. At the time of his disappearance David was wearing a yellow t-shirt, trousers over his brown swimming shorts and was barefoot. Police have released a photograph of David taken around the time of his disappearance, as well as a composite of what David might look like today. Police would like to speak to anyone who might have seen David around the time of his disappearance or have any information about his whereabouts.Anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
