David has now been in presence of Jesus for 18 months. We all miss him so much . Yesterday I was going through some of Davids stuff I found a card he had written to the Dewitt family thanking them for a monogrammed towel. He said it would be so useful in college.He also wrote a little message in Spanish which I will have to have translated by my friend Melissa. Then he wrote P.S. Marc congrats on Yale. I hope we will keep in touch. David was a faithful friend . He was always wanting to know if his friends were doing well. David did keep up with Marc and the Dewitts .We had Marc come on vacation with us. We visited the Dewitts again the summer before David went to his eternal home. David as most of you know was an intern with Mission to the World in Madrid. He would visit with Charles and talk about what it would be like to be a missionary, he also talked to Charles about going to Seminary he had talked to Sam about this . Well I found this photo of Marc and David today and it just brought back happy memories of a happy vacation with Sam David Marc Billy and I. Yesterday at my study of the bible and a great book I am reading with some friends(Christ my Companion) I felt a deep comfort. Reading this book (which is full of scripture) my soul has been nourished In John 20;21 Jesus tells his followersas the father has sent me, even so I am sending you He had shown his followers how to enter into each others lives as healers teachers friends love bearers and light-bearers sharing the love of God. Our work , just like theirs is to hang out with each other to minister to the least of these to do justice to love to show mercy and to walk humbly with Jesus who humbled himself to walk with us. When people hurt or are traumatized usually it is someone who has been hurt deeply that can offer true comfort. It is a calling or a ministry of presence . It is like when your child needs comfort and maybe cannot sleep Mommy or Daddy stay with them until the sand man comes ! Yesterday we were talking about comfort and one oft friends noticed that the original meaning of comfort was to strengthen. Comfort or strength is Full Restoration. To be strengthened or comforted is not just to feel better or even healed from pain or sorrow but to be equipped for the next struggle. God in people the Holy Spirit himself working through others has been my strength. I am beyond thankful for very dear friends for a loving family and all of you dear friends of David. I love you all so dearly. I will post this scripture that David underlined in his bible. Romans 8:26likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for is with groanings too deep for words.Much love Davids Mama. Please pray for Billy Davids Dad to make a great recovery from surgery... He had both knees replaced. He will be ready for The Iron Man with Louis Trapnell!
