Day 12 of the Key West Fla. Trip. We were on our way to Williamsburg Va. around 9 this A.M. Lucky for us the winds out of the south were light not like the forecast predicted. The skies were a mix of sun and clouds. The terrain was rolling to flat. 1st 2 pics. The shoulders were narrow and drivers passing us were very courteous. The trailers acted much the same way except for the oder left behind from the household trash they were hauling. Disgusting!!!!! We eventually made it to the paved path along the roadway which made the journey that much more enjoyable. We came across a few signs explaining the history of the area. See attached pics. Lunch was at a restaurant called the Charles City Tavern. Lots of history in this building and the food was great. A few pics of the paved trail ( why cant other states be this bike friendly). The trail took us over the Chickahominy River and the bridge was probably the largest climb on the last 25 miles, The trail ended about 50 miles from Richmond and we made our way to the Historic Powhatan Resort. We thought we were getting a room with 2 twin beds. What we entered was a 2 bedroom, 2 bath, kitchen, laundry, L/R, 2 TVs townhouse. We hit the lottery. And free internet access. The cost is less than our lunch and dinner combined. Tomorrow we go on a 1 mile Ferry trip across the James River and will ride into North Carolina. Total miles so far 636.7. The trip is almost 1/3 complete. Thanks for watching our trip.
