Day 16: Today I am thankful that I stand up for things I believe in...even when it makes me unpopular. Ive always rooted for the underdog ( well at least when the underdogs plight has validity)...I think its because I grew up with an older sister who was developmentally disabled. I remember being 4 years old and not understanding why other kids would be mean to her for no reason. It wasnt fair. So, I stood up for her. And frankly I thought if ANYONE was going to be mean to her, it should probably be me. Another thing our parents taught is was being different or having a disability wasnt a bad thing. It just was. So there for my sister and I fought like any sister who were 2 years a part would. Normal. Today I fight for wolf conservation. It has made me VERY unpopular with certain groups of people. To the point where I received death threats. So ridiculous. But, the only thing that showed me was it was sad that people felt like a death threat was easier to do than to listen, argue and defend their side with facts. When they couldnt do that, they had to be as$holes. Oh well... So I think I have found my cape. If everyone picked one cause to champion...this world would be a different place. It doesnt have to be all consuming. It can be donating a little time or a little money on a regular basis. Go find your cape.
