Day 2 Track 2 Tell me what you think of this one Lu. 1978 was a great year for albums and new bands, and this is probably my favourite And if I had to do a High Fidelity-type Top Five All Time Greatest Side One, Track One lists, Uncontrollable Urge by Devo would be in it. Their debut album Q: Are We Not Men, A: We Are Devo had a jarringly weird cover, and in North America anyway it was pressed in grey-green marble vinyl, and if you ignored all the rockers who said they were fags because of their loopy boiler suits and 3-D glasses and for the way they blasphemed the Stones (Side 1-Track 2) and actually put this record on, this is the song that would grab you. If you were in high school and you like these guys, it guaranteed your status as an outcast fag weirdo, but dont tell me that this isnt great rock and roll, it certainly beats the crap out of what Zeppelin were putting out in those days. Also its worth mentioning that Devos founders Mark Mothersbaugh and Gerry Casale were there in person when Alison Kraus and those three others were shot like dogs by the Ohio National Guard at Kent State in May 1970, which is something that neither Crosby, Stills, Nash nor Young can lay claim to.
