Day 21 - Surprised Ive never written about this topic before, it is one I care very much about, for personal reasons. Im not here to preach to convert, but it is an expression for a person that cant speak for themselves. I hope you like it - Hear my voice I have a mouth, but cannot speak, I have a skeleton, flimsy, weak, Two delicate hands, one on each arm, I pray you keep me safe from harm. I have my eyes, fingers and toes, Look very closely, you’ll see my nose, I have a heart, listen, hear it beat, I have two legs with tiny feet. My tiny ears hear what you say, I grow in size, more every day, I hear you row, I hear you shout, All this stress I could do without. I have no voice, I have no name, And yet I hear you give me blame, Please stand up tall, and stand up strong, You can’t blame me, I’ve done no wrong. I may not live in your present sense, You can’t use that as your defence, Just because you cant hear my voice, You have the right to make that choice? You had your fun, you had your pleasure, Now I am am here, your apparent treasure, A part of him, a part of you, A part of a future, wondrous, new. You gave no thought when feeling frisky, You knew the dangers, very risky, But to my life you give no thought, “Ah sod it, let’s just abort” I have my heart, I feel it beat, I hear a protest on the street, People care about MY choice, My god these people are my voice! These people out there, care for me, Belief for the person I will be, They stand for the right I have to live, And so my voice, to them I give.
