Day 21 of Higher Ground International Church (St Louis) Fast: The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. (Rom 16:19-20) Paul introduces God as The God of Peace. Of all the titles Paul could have used ie. The God of Consuming Fire, The All Powerful God, The Dread Champion, The Victorious God, The Mighty God etc. I think you get my point. So Paul, under the stimulation of Holy Spirit, says The God of Peace!! The word Peace here is a common Jewish farewell expression. It simply means - wholeness, i.e. when all essential parts are joined together. So it could read that the God of Wholeness will soon crush Satan under our feet. A common thing that we do is to read the epistles in order to benefit my walk with God. This is a very good practice but only a few books were written to individuals, the majority were written to churches. It is wise for us to remember this, and since this verse about our God of peace crushing Satan is given in Pauls closing blessings to the church at Rome, it would be wise for us to embrace it in a corporate sense. Just look at the definition of peace that we have mentioned - when all essential parts are joined together. Holy Spirit says that the God of Wholeness will, through His people, crush Satan under His peoples feet. Wow, I love it!! We have to be together on this, joined together. As we move into this season we aim to be a people of His presence. True worship nurtures a condition of peace in our hearts.
