Day +23: Brocks creatinine level (a measure of how happy his kidneys are) was high at his midnight labs, up to 1.3 from the usual 0.7, despite him having drank A LOT of water yesterday. After more fluids overnight, it was back down in the normal range this morning, but it could delay our discharge if it doesnt remain so. Fluids will be increased tonight, and when we do leave, Brock may have to get fluids during the night at home. A home health company will set me up with the knowledge and equipment needed. His hemoglobin dipped under 8 last night, so he received a unit of red cells. Dr. Stenger is sure hes making his own now, since hes went a while without a transfusion. She thinks this may be the last one he needs. Even though none of this is bad news and things continue to go very well, Im having a rough day today. Sleep was elusive last night. Weve had a revolving door of unfamiliar nurses lately, all great but I like to have ones that know how Brock and I do things. Im tired, near tears. Its hard even when things are smooth, being in this room 24/7, away from my other son, missing out on so many things. But I love this kid and would do it all again, of course. Just please keep me in your thoughts and prayers this week. Thanks.
