Day 3 of 5. Gratitude. 1. Music - The music that puts a smile - TopicsExpress

Day 3 of 5. Gratitude. 1. Music - The music that puts a smile on my face, the music that brings me back to a special place, the music that comes out of the mouths of my children and the guitar of my husband. Music has made me feel sad, and loved, powerful and powerless. Music connects me with people and helps me get over them. Music makes me laugh and scream like a teenager, it makes me dance without inhibition (to the dismay of those watching). Without the Beethovens and the Beasties, I would not have gotten through most of my obstacles. 2. Where I live - My home, comfortable and cluttered, organized and yet a mess. I am able to feed my children in our kitchen, wash them in our baths, tuck them into their own bed, and feel the protection of the walls that surround us. Our street and neighborhood, friendly and caring, secure and fun. The kids can ride their bikes up and down our street and visit friends as if we were back in a time that this was not a second thought. I am able to run as many times a week as my legs are willing, close to the water and far away from most traffic, breathing fresh air and looking at scenery that is typically found only in movies. Wilmington, deciding to raise our family here was the right choice, it offers activities for all, baseball, volleyball, karate, yoga, soccer, tennis, surfing...the list goes on and on. It offers an array of arts, culture and history, and it remains a safe haven. 3. Past friends - Those that are no longer part of my life but remain in my heart. You have taught me about love, laughter and loyalty. But more importantly, you have taught me about pain and heartache. It is with those last two that I grow and I find my gratitude in what is in front of me. It is with those last two that I remember the moments I met each of you and relish in the memories of the witty dialogue and compassionate conversations. I have grown and have become more secure within myself because of each of you. You are sorely missed and forever loved. Next 3 to go..Ava Kay, Kathleen Kennedy Kane, and Shannon Ricks Dunne. No pressure and no worries if you are the type to be silently grateful :)
