Day FIVE of my buddy Keith Turners five-day challenge. Its over - TopicsExpress

Day FIVE of my buddy Keith Turners five-day challenge. Its over and out today. My inner DJ is a little sad about that... I said the week was going to be devoted to the groove and you can see from what Ive chosen what I mean by that: its been soul and R&B right down the line. Folks who know me probably arent surprised by that, but I could have chosen these tunes from a much wider palette than that, believe me... But the fact is, these last months, and especially the last few weeks, my minds been on whats going on down south of me. Im just a middle-aged white guy scraping by on the frosty northern steppes of North America, but my heart aches and my mind reels at what Ive been seeing.... This is my small way of showing solidarity with #ICantBreathe and my disgust with white chauvinism and legalistic, systemic brutality. Black American music is Americas finest cultural contribution to the human world and I really cant imagine my life having been lived without it. Its in the DNA of music all over the globe now, the seed is everywhere and it will never die... Glory be, people. But enough soapbox. Its been a soul and R&B vibe -- today theres a lot more B in it... I just love this rhythm section and especially that way-behind drum part (OK, the fill is pretty damn sloppy but thats only a second or two...) This is the majestic Taj Mahal... https://youtube/watch?v=9gBqwWOWKLE
