Deanna Gayle Walters , I am so proud of you for standing up and speaking out against domestic violence; for being brave enough and determined enough to keep going, no matter how many time we were told no; for being an amazing and loving mom through it all; for motivating me to not give up; for continually telling your story over and over-though it must have been excruciating at times; for saying yes every time I asked, do I have your permission to talk to/email/write letters to/schedule meetings with {social services, law enforcement, FBI, drs, housing, insurance}.. When I look back, I wonder how vulnerable this made you feel, but still, you did it...sheer determination. You have begun crushing the debilitating myths about domestic violence survivors and I am in awe. I am amazed by you. From that moment you were in my office, just before the assault, I knew we were heading into something big. Ive never had a feeling quite like that before and with each step forward, I felt it again, its not over yet-we have something else to do and again, and again. Its still not over. Your bravery will save lives and will educate millions. I love you, beautiful! Thank you
