Dear All, Here is a brief report of the just ended enlarged NWACUDO EX CO held in Buea last December 06, 2014. Have a nice time everyone. AGENDA. Opening prayer A word of welcome from the host president Opening speech by the President-General Brief branch reports Reactions and suggestions from members on branch reports Presentation of the 2014 Congress report Development projects Preparations of the 2015 congress Other matters/Announcements Closing remarks This meeting that was initially scheduled to begin at 3:00 PM finally started at 4:30 PM following the arrival of most of the delegates from all branches. The day`s agenda was presented by the secretary General Mr. Mbemeliat Davidson Nkengakeu before we all stood up for an opening prayer in which we were led by Mr. Nkengafac Michael. He started with an interlude of music and solemnly called on God Almighty to guide everyone present and hasten the footsteps of those that were still on their way so that we can together build Nwametaw for prosperity. In his welcome address, Mr. Fonjendah Paul who represented the two Buea meetings, welcomed all delegates and told them to feel at home while in Buea. He said, they are particularly happy to welcome everyone again in Buea after the October 2009 that took a lot of meaningful steps towards the development of Nwametaw and that coming back to Buea means another milestone shall be laid and follow strictly. He went ahead to thank the executive body of NWACUDO for giving Buea the opportunity to host the enlarged executive meeting that will surly go a long way to put remarkable footprints in NWACUDO activities and Nwametaw as a whole. This was then followed by a word of welcome from the President-General of NWACUDO Ndi Asa`ah Fongang Fonju. He thanked all those present and congratulated them for their sense of belonging and sacrifice for the development of Nwametaw. He reiterated that not everyone will hold the success of their village at heart as the members present. He thanked the Buea meetings of taking up the challenge to host this EX CO that was initially scheduled for Limbe but because of one reason or the other beyond the control of the Limbe branch, it had to be moved else where. In his speech, he pointed out that the problems of NWACUDO come from two main sources: - From EX CO members who do not do their work or handle it with tact but later lay blames on others for no reason. - From some opportunists, misguided and selfish sons and daughters of Nwametaw who have resorted to blackmailing and sabotaging the organization when their primordial goal could not be attained. He called on all to be watchful and denounce to the last iota these individuals who are out to bring shame to Nwametaw. He made it clear that we can never have the same ideas and should be able to accept the views of others if they are meant for development. He presented a five point development programme to be followed next year which were as follows: - Follow up and direct involvement and participation in the execution of the now approved Fongah-Menji road project - Effective functioning of the SAR/SM - Revision of our collaboration with the Fonjumetaw parish - Construction or renovation of our individual homes in the village - Continuing the water project giving the new proposal with the catholic mission. He wished all a happy stay and called for frank deliberations in the course of the meeting in order to strongly build Nwametaw. From here, deliberations moved to roll call of branches conducted by the Secretary General. Branches present were; Internal elites and village representative, Bamenda, Buea Fonjendah, Buea Forkem, Muyuka, Fontem, USA, Yaounde, Douala Souboume, Santchou, Kumba, Mutengene, Limbe and Douala Aeroport. Branches were represented by their presidents in some cases and their secretaries or mandated members but Douala Souboum was given a special thanks with their rich and heavy attendance. It was the only branch other than Buea that came with a number more than five who were equally very active. Added to this number were twelve members of the central executive, a cross section of the members of NWACUDO Buea and some ordinary members and well wishers from various branches. This was followed by branch reports from delegates of those branches. In summary, branch reports had the following identical problems plaguing their branches and few worries about the activities of the central EX CO. 1. Members benefiting from Njangi (Achupe) and/or borrowing meeting`s money and refusing to pay or leaving the meeting without paying their debts and/or loans. 2. Some prominent elites that always want to use Nwametaw for their personal ambitions but does not belongs to village meetings nor pay their development levies and/or contribute for any development activity in the village. 3. A good number of Nwametaw people in various towns still do not attend village meetings nor pay development levies yet they are the first to benefit from any development project that is carried out in Nwametaw. 4. Debate on whether to henceforth move NWACUDO to once in every two years 5. Reasons why development cards have not been printed till date. 6. End of Congress Reports always coming in late and so do not give branch presidents the lee way to forge ahead the activities of the organization. In reacting to these worries, a lot of deliberation was made but on the summary, the following were adopted as strategies to overcome these huddles. A-Names of debtors who were seen to be big/prominent elites of our Fondom be sent to the President-General as was the case in Yaounde chapter and almost all have paid their debts after the intervention of the central EX CO. B-Next General Elections will carter for opportunists within the cycle of the Central EX CO and it was agreed that elections must be carried out this year no matter the demands and/or wishes of the people. These elections will be through electoral college where each branch will send 15% together with their proposals to prospective posts. This will help eliminate those that do not belong to any branch of NWACUDO and opportunists. C-Branch presidents were reminded to carry out consultation and put their findings in a written report and send to the central EX CO so as to mandate the President-General to react accordingly on those that do not contribute to the village development than merely say statements and refuse to act but blame the central EX CO. The President-General then compliment and I quote him “If it is power, I have but there is no legal binding for me to exercise my power. Since two years today, we have been waiting for the branch presidents to mandate me by providing these resolution in writing but it has never come yet they continue to blame me as if I am the one asking them not to give me that legal ingredient binding me to do that”. For the third time Branch presidents promised to do so before the upcoming NWACUDO-CONGRESS. D-As concerns report coming in late, the president-general openly blamed the secretary general who have in four years refused to follow the instructions given him no matter the cries and worries of all the NWACUDO branches. He did not only say this but equally cancelled this year report because it does not reflect NWACUDO despite all the corrections. Called on the secretary general to either resign or hand over duties to other persons if his hands are full with activities. He further said and I quote him a sensible man is that person who learn and know his mistakes and avoid such situations in future. Members present took it as a resolution that end of Congress reports must henceforth be published when the event is still fresh in the minds of the people. On the special recommendation of NWACUDO-USA, the congress hall in the palace will be transformed to a museum and contest for fine arts shall be launched for 2015 congress. The only worry of the aspect was how to sponsor it giving that it needs a lot of time and concentration to carve something and so need to take a step ahead towards their remunerations. However, discussions were suspended here while NWACUDO lobby for funds to sponsor it. On general reaction after the repeated noted problems, the President-General urged branch presidents to summit as a matter of urgency names of debtors owing the various meetings and those who refuse to attend and/or contribute to the development of the village so that he can use that to prepare the documents needed for action to be taken. He reiterated that his power can only come from the branch presidents and if they give him the go ahead, he will do whatever they want. Mr. Tanze Thomas the president of Yaounde who reacted after said, in order to avoid members running away with the meetings money, all branches should be duly legalized at the senior divisional office so that recalcitrant members can be legally followed up. He also said that the process involving money lending and borrowing, should be very transparent that is “Be on the table and not under the table”. The meeting continued with the reading of last year congress report by the Secretary General. The report was examined by branch delegates and finds it very wanting and so was asked to be rewrite to reflect the events of that period before adopted for distribution and publication. Next on the agenda was the date of the next coming 2014 Congress. After a number of debates and counter debates, the date was finally programmed to run from Wednesday 8th to Saturday 12th April 2015. IE (Monday Angong to Saturday Ashallah). As Concerns development projects other than water, President-General announced that two classrooms for G.B.P .S group II have been constructed until as of now the school have left the premises of Mr. Ntemgwa Francis who had hosted the school for 15 years. He equally reported about the effective start of SAR/SM and the contribution made by NWACUDO and some elites and associations that have been responsible for this effective start of the school. Mrs. Tanzomo Bridget revealed that the internal elites are already contributing money to supply the school with an industrial machine since it is the most populated department in the school. Mr. Sangong Gregory announced to the meeting that he is the Chair person of Kongho church committee and they are already carrying out two projects within the outstation. He talked of renovating the parish center that needs 260.000f but only 160.000f have been raised, building of the parish bell tower that shall cost 7.000.000F but only 3.100.000F have been raised. He proposed that as a means of revising our relations with the church, let us make sure we actively participate in raising this money. To set the pace for this, Mr. Nkengafac Michael pledged to complete the remaining 100.000F needed to renovate the parish center. This was greeted with a lot of pomp and prayers were made that the raising of this money should just follow this trend. As a means to revise our relations with the church, it was agreed that a special mass offering be made by NWACUDO on Friday 11/04/2015 with all the branches expected to contribute atleast 1.000f per member. It was announced that 70.000F have been paid in by some members and Limbe branch as their own contributions to buy the chairs that were bought last year. This money will be used to increase the 222 chairs bought so far. On other matters, H.R.H. Chief Forzi thanked all present especially the sense of maturity that have prevailed during the deliberations. He wished the president-general to continue at the helm of the organization to continue with the maturity, serenity, commitment and the spirit of oneness like this until a new leader is adequately prepared. The principal of G.B.H.S Ndung Nwa was reminded of the poor results her school registered last year during the GCE O/L and was reminded that the Nwametaw people will not tolerate such a poor results in subsequent years. It was all agreed that the result do not reflect GBHS Ndung Nwa and need to be rapidly ameliorated. Concerning activities of 2015 congress, the cultural aspect of it was to be taken more serious as was the case last year especially on traditional dances. On this point, Tandia Mirabeau announced that Mr. Asongayi Patrick, a former member of Buea Fonjendah and now a member of NWACUDO-USA has promised to reward the best traditional dance of 2015 with a trophy and handsome cash prize of 50.000F while the amount for the second, third and maybe others will be worked out later. This was greeted too with a thunderous applause while the president-general compliment the good works of Mr. Asongayi quoting his 100.000f last year meant for special quests. Another point agreed was to carry out a mini agro-pastoral show during the final day of NWACUDO in the palace. The organizing committee was given the task to derive the methods and means of a smooth functioning of this mini agro-pastoral show. On sports, the absence of the sport coordinator same as last year was a handicap as a lot of issues were still under his control and so the President-General will discuss with him and convene another meeting purposely for sports since it is a crowd pulling aspect in NWACUDO that must be looked with keen interest. As we all know, there are several other issues which cannot be mentioned here for confidential reasons. The curtains to Buea chapter was drawn at 4:22 AM after watching a video of the masters thesis of Ndi Asaah Fongang on international Relations. (Will come back to this in subsequent times) He took many by surprise when his defense was only watched and had never been heard of. After puffing the champagne and the feasting part reserved for this, the President-General wished everyone safe journey while we meet in the next meeting before our congress come April 8th 2015. As of now, report reaching us is that every delegation moved safely back to their various destinations and are mobilizing the massive attendance and the active participation of all branches come 2015 Congress.
