Dear Bay Island Residents and Visitors, I am writing this - TopicsExpress

Dear Bay Island Residents and Visitors, I am writing this statement to report a great injustice that Hedman Alas is experiencing. As many of you know, we have been working for over a year and a half to provide a regular transportation service for our customers that travel to and from the Ferry Dock in La Ceiba. We are very attentive to the needs of our passengers, as we are in the business of providing transportation solutions, but today when our bus was leaving the Ferry Dock, our vehicle was illegally impounded by the transportation authorities. In our defense they acted illegally, we have followed legal procedure to begin working this route, both as a transportation company and as a tour operator. We have a signed contract from the ENP (port authority), we spoke with the Mayor of La Ceiba as he expressed his support for our project, and we have transportation permits to travel from any of our destinations in Honduras and Guatemala towards La Ceiba. We have letters of support from the Institute of Tourism, the Chamber of Commerce of Tourism, an invitation from the Galaxy Ferry to use their property, as well as a letter from the Legal branch of Transportation that states if the we signed a contract with the Port Authority we could proceed. So as instructed we followed through with everything mentioned, then continued to invest time and money into this new location. To our surprise after our bus was confiscated, we received a message from the Director of Transportation stating that the letter from Transportation’s legal department was no longer valid… how is this even possible? We have been jumping through hoops for a year, just to be told from one day to the next that we can no longer operate and our investment is lost? What is more clear than anything else, is that while we are working to promote this country, to help the communities we participate in, to increase tourism, to improve our transportation infrastructure by aiming to exceed even our own standards, there is still a small group of people who are not working for the greater good, but their own interests. The difference between us, and other companies, is that we arent driven by profits, we are a family business driven by passion, we love helping others. We are a 60 year old transportation company that moves thousands of people a week between 10 cities, we care about our customers, we care about the experiences our tourists take home with them, we care about our service, and most of all, we love this country and show it by countless actions, and not words. With this we are announcing that we are not giving up, but we need your help, we have to temporarily cancel our service to the ferry dock until further notice, but one of our strongest foundations is fairness, so we leave it in your hands, our friends will be passing some petitions around the islands in an effort to get signatures of support, or leave your comments here and we will print them. We believe we are providing a fair and efficient service by offering more options and increasing the Ferry docks capacity to move larger groups. We have said it before, and will say it again, Hedman Alas is yours, we work for the people, and stand by your needs, so if you believe in us too, please leave a comment, or sign the petition, as we are taking this to higher branches of Government. Thank you kindly, Aaron Hedman
