Dear Blythwood Residents, We have been made aware that not all - TopicsExpress

Dear Blythwood Residents, We have been made aware that not all residents are in agreement on how to handle the Halloween Trick-or-Treating event in the neighborhood. Some residents want to do trick-or-treating on the evening of Saturday, October 25, following the Blythwood Annual Fall Party, while others want to trick-or-treat on the traditional day of Friday, October 31. The decision to have it on one day or the other was not meant to divide our neighborhood in any way. However, it is impossible to satisfy everyone with one single decision. And no one decision is a neighborhood requirement on this matter. We would like to suggest that each resident make their own decision on which night they would like to participate in trick-or-treating. You may choose to participate in one night or the other, BOTH or not at all. Whatever your decision may be, we ask that you please follow the traditional trick-or-treating etiquette by either leaving your porch lights on or off to indicate whether or not you are handing out treats. If your children wish to trick-or-treat BOTH nights, then thats great too! That’s more fun for them and another opportunity to dress up. In the past we have made the decision to have trick-or-treating on nights other than October 31 to protect the integrity of our neighborhood and to ensure that our children have a safe environment in which to participate. This is still our main focus and we want to continue encouraging great participation in Halloween celebrations in our neighborhood. It is such a community driven event and we do not want to divide our neighbors with disagreement. This year our Blythwood Annual Fall Party is being generously funded by DSLD and their business associates and is expected to be our biggest yet. We encourage all of our residents to attend this event being held on Saturday, October 25, and celebrate the essence of community and spirit of fall. It will be a great opportunity to meet new fellow neighbors and hear from DSLD on things to come. Look for more details soon on activities to be held at the event. Again, we apologize for any inconvenience or disruption this debate over trick-or-treating has caused. It was never our intention. Our childrens safety and enjoyment of family time is always our top priority. We hope you consider all of your options and make the best decision for your family. Thank you for your time and consideration on this matter. We hope to see you all at the Fall Party on October 25 and out in costume celebrating Halloween, whenever you and your family choose to do so. Sincerely, Blythwood Homeowners Association
