Fishing Report Yesterday afternoon and last night the Upper - TopicsExpress

Fishing Report Yesterday afternoon and last night the Upper Delaware Region was hit by another round of heavy rain. Yesterdays rainfall was widespread and it has every local river on the rise. At this time the Beaverkill, Willowemoc, Lower East and Main Stem are very high with varying degrees of turbidity. The Upper East Branch and West Branch are too high for wading but perfect for drift boats. I have some openings this week for streamer fishing if you want to get a shot at some Big Browns. This summer has thus far brought us a lot of water. Just about every afternoon heavy rain storms are hitting somewhere within the region. Overall the weather has been great news for the river system and our trout. Thus far the trout are still spread out and enjoying good water temperatures. As soon as the waters get back to a wadable level the report below will be accurate. Fishing from drift boat is very good at this time. We now have our normal summertime hatches. In the mornings there are Tricos about. Recently I have seen excellent amounts of these insects in the air and on the water. The Best action with these tiny insects is on the Upper East and West branches. Later in the day anglers can find a good mix of both Mayflies and Caddisflies on the water. Anglers should have Olives, Sulfurs, Cahills, Isonychia and spinner patterns. Small Caddisflies and midge patterns will also take fish. Summer is also time for terrestrials. There are lots of ants and beetles about and trout love them. This week there was an increase in release from Pepacton reservoir. The Upper East Branch is now icy cold and running high. We are still offering both Streamer and dry fly floats on this river as well as on the West Branch and Upper Main Stem.
