Dear British friends, I know Stevie G is amazing, but if you want to win the world cup, you better start hoping the US of A isnt in your group. I know, I know, you are laughing.....just like last time, when the laughing stopped courtesy of Rob Green, and you had to finish second in your group because....start the excuses....and who was top of the group? Can you remember? Very quietly, the US is becoming a soccer nation. Little athletic boys all over the country are choosing soccer instead of baseball, basketball, or american football. And those little athletic boys are starting to trickle UP, into high school soccer, and college soccer, which is how the U.S. does grass roots feeder programs for the national team. All those boys and teenagers are good, and getting better. That infrastructure, modelled on how we train our womens soccer to rule the world, is very good - in my opinion, the infrastructure is BETTER than what they have in England. So - mock me now - but fear the sleeping giant. That giant has begun to wake up. And this world cup is the start of that. By world cup 2018, the giant will have woken up and had a shower. By 2022......yeah, the giant is ready for work. I believe the US will win a MENS world cup in my lifetime. Because I know what you dont - more boys are choosing soccer. I know some of them. Look out. You heard it here first.
