Dear Brothers and Sisters We are in that blessed period of the Islamic year, in these glorious months of Shabaan and Ramadaan (having witnessed the beautiful month of Rajab), where Allah Almighty gives us the opportunity to do additional salaah, pray for forgiveness, fast, purify our wealth and share our possessions with those who are in situations of great difficulty. There is no difficulty greater than the unfolding tragedy in Syria, where our brethren are suffering genocide, where slaughter, displacement, hunger, cold, homelessness and massacres are increasing at an alarming rate; more than 100 000 dead, 200 000 missing, 300 000 detained and 5 million displaced. This tragedy was the subject of a LIVE talk on Channel Islam, Radio Al Ansaar, Radio Islam and Voice of the Cape. For a free copy to enlighten you on the situation in Syria please call our offices. Our assistance to Syria has exceeded R15 million through the establishment of a fully equipped hospital, medical supplies, provision of food, baby milk powder and blankets and is on going. Provisions for Sehri and Iftar together with continuous medical support is paramount this Ramadaan. Yemen, a land of 15 million hungry people, 500 000 Somali refugees and now 700 Syrian families is also a Ramadaan priority. So too is Palestine and Somalia where malnourished hungry people are still surfacing since the famine of 2011. Feeding will be carried out in rural Pakistan, Mauritania, Malawi and in several centres in South Africa throughout Ramadaan as our priority projects all of which are worthy of Zakaah 100 percent. Syria, Palestine and Yemen are all blessed lands according to Islamic teaching. To send the aid timeously we need to respond immediately as some items will be sent by shipping containers, others will be purchased in neighbouring countries or bought in the country of need through bank transfers. Please note that we have offices in Syria, Yemen, Palestine, Somalia, Malawi, Mauritania and Pakistan to supervise all our activities.
