Dear Calgarians, Cab companies are looking to increase rates by 8% (Roughly making an $18 trip more like $20.50) and this has a lot of people upset. Not because of the increase itself, but because taxi service is still terrible in Calgary, so the rate seems unjustified. However, prices at your favorite fast food joint keep going up, even though they never get your order right, your coffee bill keeps jumping even though youre pretty convinced theyre giving you decaf, and taxes keep going up even though you feel the city is still doing jack with the money. The silver lining here is that most people get a cost of living increase in pay, and youre getting that for not doing anything extra either. Thats just business. Sincerely, Matt Berry
