Dear Classmates, Through my program on Creativity from - TopicsExpress

Dear Classmates, Through my program on Creativity from University of Maryland, I learn that Invention and Innovation are not the same; though there is only a thin line dividing them. According to definition, I understand that Invention and Innovation are both something new and novel. But the difference lies in the fact that a Innovation needs being Commercially viable; whereas this is not necessary for an Invention. Going by this definition, what we were taught to patent should be something which is really an innovation and not necessarily an invention. But the Patent Office grants patents for Inventions only. What are your thoughts on this? Thanks and Regards, Partha
